Francisco Alves

Francisco Alves, 87 of South Bethlehem died Saturday morning in Manor Care, Bethlehem, PA. Born on April 3, 1924 in Real, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal he was the son of the late Jose Alves and Anunciacao Sousa. He was married to Alzira J. Alves for 67 years.

Francisco came to America in 1974 and worked for Lisbon Contractors. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church and the Portuguese American Club both in Bethlehem.

Francisco is survived by his wife, Alzira Alves of Bethlehem, sons Manuel F. Alves and wife Maria of Bethlehem Township and Jose Alves and wife Lidia Fernandes of Portugal, daughter, Etelvina J. Alves and husband Jorge Marques of Portugal, brother, Mario Alves and wife Lurdes of Allentown. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Daniel, Pedro, Maria Filipa, Micaela, Alexandre and Catarina and two great grandchildren, Natalie Rose and Matilda, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Francisco was preceded in death by his brothers, Jose Maria Sousa and Antonio Alves.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. Fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 10 AM.
