Frank G. Poniktera, Jr.

Frank G. Poniktera, Jr., 69, of Bethlehem, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at Hospice House of St. Luke's in Lower Saucon Twp. He was born October 11, 1937 in Fountain Hill, the son of the late Frank G. Poniktera, Sr. and Ann H. Arnold Poniktera of Bethlehem Twp. He was the loving husband of Bernice E. Steckel Poniktera, they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past April 21st.

Frank was a 1955 Liberty High School graduate. He worked for the City of Bethlehem as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Waste Water Treatment Plant retiring after 39 years.

Frank enjoyed making toys for children, gardening and walking in Saucon Park. He managed and coached the Lynn A.A. softball team for 25 years. He coached Southside little league during the 60?s & 70?s. Frank was an avid bowler in the Independent league for 25 years and also the Town & Country league and construction league at Bethlehem Steel. Frank also had a passion for Civil War History visiting Gettysburg as often as possible. He was a member of the Pa. Civil War Roundtable and the Gettysburg Foundation. His other memberships included: BVFHA, Grover Cleveland Democratic Club, Rosemount Fire Co., and the Bethlehem Senior Center.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bernice, his mother, Ann, son, Frank G. Poniktera, III & his wife Debra of Freemansburg; daughter, Dale E., wife of David Kitzhoffer of Bethlehem; brother, Ronald R. Poniktera of Bethlehem; twin sisters, Jean A. Fritchman of Bethlehem Twp; and Darlene S. Ashton of Lehighton; as well as two grandchildren, Jacquelyn & Michael Kitzhoffer

A Visitation will be held on Monday August 13, 2007 from 6-9PM at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Services will be held private.
