Frank J. Tomko, Sr.

November 17, 1921 — September 5, 2018

Frank J. Tomko, Sr., 96, of Bethlehem, died on September 5, 2018. He was the son of John and Julia (Mahoski) Tomko; the oldest of six boys. Frank was the husband of the late Katherine E. “Kitty” (Yurasek) for 59 years.

Frank began working as a Carpenter Apprentice at the Bethlehem Steel in 1940. Retiring in 1982, he was last employed in the Civil Engineering Group as the Supervisor of Design Drawing and Construction Surveying. He was a Registered Professional Surveyor and a journey-man carpenter. Frank served many years on the Plumbers Examining Board for the City of Bethlehem and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He enjoyed traveling, carpentry, gardening, and trout fishing. He was a member of St. Annes Church, Bethlehem, since 1950.

Survivors: daughter, Elaine Whitesel and husband Samuel; son, Frank Jr. and wife Stephanie; grandchildren: Michelle Wetterling and husband Joseph, Frank Tomko III, Emily Hooper, and Laura Whitesel; great-grandchildren: Noah, Emma, Austin, Joshua, and Justin; and his brothers, David and Thomas. He was predeceased by brothers, George, John, and Charles.

Visitation will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Annes Church, 450 E Washington Ave, Bethlehem, with burial at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
