Frederick Reihl

December 7, 1942 — April 6, 2025

Bethlehem Township

Frederick T. Reihl, 82, of Bethlehem Township, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia A. (Mahoney) Reihl for 33 years.

Born on December 7, 1942, in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Frederick and Annamarie (Fahy) Reihl.

Fred's life was marked by remarkable achievements, not the least of which was his incredible commitment to sobriety, a testament to his strength and determination, spanning forty-nine years. He earned a master's degree in education, which fueled his passion for helping others. For over three decades, Fred dedicated himself to recovery and rehabilitation in a professional capacity as CEO of Freedom House in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, guiding countless individuals to reclaim their lives. His wisdom, intertwined with a unique sense of humor, made him a cherished mentor and friend to many.

Active in the recovery community where he not only found support but also offered it generously to others. Fred and Pat opened their home to give those seeking help or just a sympathetic ear to talk to a place to go. He was known for his charitable spirit, contributing to various causes close to his heart. Earlier in his life, Fred was involved with the Jaycees, fostering a sense of camaraderie and civic duty.

Fred's personality was a blend of seriousness and humor, a combination that endeared him to those who had the privilege of knowing him. His ability to share his recovery journey in a relatable and insightful way provided direction and hope to those seeking his counsel.

In closing, we reflect on the serenity prayer, a guiding light for Fred: "GOD grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." May we carry this wisdom forward in his memory.

Survivors: Fred will be dearly missed by his son, Frederick Reihl and his wife, Tori; two step-sons, Paul and Patrick Schuler; step-daughter, Karen Schuler-Hill and her wife, Ras; and six grandchildren, Adrien, EJ, Francesca, Pauly, Anabella, and Miller.
