Gabor S. Macsi, Jr., 89, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Gabor, Sr. and Suzie Macsi. He was the loving husband to Loretta A (Piccirilli) Macsi; they were married 67 years. He worked for the Bethlehem Steel in the beam yards as a Foreman, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Hungarian Evangelical Church in Bethlehem. Gabor was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps 4th Division and part of the invasion force on Iwo Jima, February 1945. He was wounded during the operation and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Loretta; sons, Richard G. Macsi & wife Kay of Ronks, PA, and Robert M. Macsi & wife Michele of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Brian Macsi & wife Nicole, Rebecca Macsi and her sons Tyler & Gavin.
Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. funeral service will follow on Thursday at the Hungarian Evangelical Church, 635 High St., Bethelhem. Burial with full military honors will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethelhem.
