Generose F. Carisio

Generose F. (Dwyer) Carisio, died peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at her residence in Country Meadows of Bethlehem. A native and lifelong resident of Bethlehem, she was born in 1928, daughter of the late Joseph R. and Agnes (Coyle) Dwyer.

She was a 1946 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School. She then attended St. Josephs Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland, from which she graduated in 1949. In 1950 she and Justin M. Carisio were married at Holy Infancy Church in Bethlehem, a marriage that would last 69 years until his death in 2019.

As a registered nurse for many years, Mrs. Carisio provided nursing care at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown; St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem; and as a private duty nurse in Bethlehem. She also served on the nursing staff of the Lehigh University Health Center. She volunteered at the St. Lukes Hospital Ladies Aid Society.

As one who delighted in beautiful things, she prided herself on her elegant, warm and welcoming home where she enjoyed entertaining relatives and friends. She was a parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church.

She is survived by daughters Patricia Seidenberger and her husband Thomas, Susan Glaser and her husband Richard, Maria Russoli and her husband Robert, son Justin Carisio, Jr. and his wife Teresa; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and sister Patricia Bogar. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Anne Catholic Church 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, Pa 18017 from 10:30-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Lukes Hospice C/O Development, 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 or to the Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project, 204 S. 17th St., Allentown, PA 18104.
