George A. August

George A. August Jr., 86, of Breinigsville, PA

died on Monday, July 31, 2006 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown, PA.

Born December 29, 1919 in West Barrington, RI, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Ida Boler August.

He was married to Patricia Schuler August who preceded him in death on August 19, 2003.

George was a member of St. Anne?s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. He served in the Navy during World War II as a night fighter pilot. He was awarded two distinguished flying crosses and one air medal for his courage and success during World War II. He retired from the Navy in 1957 as a commander. He later worked for the Bethlehem Steel as an Engineer in the metallurgical department where he retired after 31 years.

George will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters Michele August-Brady, wife of Michael of Bethlehem and Pamela Spadoni, wife of Gregory of Easton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cara, wife of John Nagurney, Alyssa Spadoni, Bryan Brady and Ashley Brady. He will also be remembered by his sister Barbara Remmington of Barrington, RI.

He was preceded in death by his son Timothy E. August.

SERVICES

Visitation will be at St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 on Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem. Arrangements are being handled by Connell Funeral Home.
