George C. Pecuch, Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Moravian Village of Bethlehem. Born April 24, 1925 in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Anna Svirzvosky and John Pecuch. He was the husband of the late Anna Lockovitvh Pecuch.
George served his country honorably during World War II in the Navy on the LST 498 and also Vietnam and was part of the Allied Invasion of Normandy. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 26 years of service in the US Navy. George also worked for the Bethlehem Area School District. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem Township and the Teamsters 773.
George enjoyed taking trips to North Carolina, swimming, the casinos, listening to polkas and feeding the wild birds and rabbits in the back yard.
He is survived by his sons, Michael of Bethlehem, with whom he resided and George Pecuch, Jr., brother, Stephen Pecuch and sister, Cecelia Kish.
George was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Pecuch and three brothers, John, Albert and Francis, Sr.
SERVICES
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 9-10 AM followed by a service at 10 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
