George E. Balent

George E. Balent, 77, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born, September 11, 1936, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late George and Eleanor (Albertson) Balent. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Neiswender) Balent, they were married 54 years.

George was employed by the Bethlehem Steel. After retirement he enjoyed working for KULP car rentals. He was a devoted father & grandfather. He took great pride in sharing the outdoors with his children & grandchildren. He was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church and an Army veteran, 101st Airborne.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; children, Thomas & wife, Kimberly, Terry & wife, Jill, John & wife Mary-Jo, Christine Piraino & husband, Paul, and James & wife, Tamara; sister, Geraldine Poulton & husband, Harold; 13 grandchildren & 4 great grandsons.

Viewing hours will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, on Wednesday Jan. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Incarnation of Our Lord Church, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
