George J. Anthony, 88, of Bethlehem died on Thursday April 11, 2013 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Bruno) Anthony. He was the husband of the late Anna M. (Velas) Anthony.
George worked for the city of Bethlehem. He served his country in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Catholic Sokols, secretary for the Jednota Lodge, a volunteer fire fighter for Bethlehem and an avid bowler.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, George T. Anthony and wife Debra of Northampton, Gerard J. Anthony and wife Kathryn of Center Valley, and Joseph B. Anthony and wife Joan of Bethlehem, daughters, Mary Ann Kondash and Barbara Wolf both of Bethlehem, granddaughters, Barbara Smith, Jennifer Fulfaro, Stephanie Schock, Michele Gruber, Casey Anthony, and Madison Anthony, and 5 great- grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Anthony, and sisters, Mary Sopko and Helen Anthony.
A prayer service will be held 9:30am Thursday April 18, 2013 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa.18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10am at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18015. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:30-8PM and Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30am at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
