George J. Potocky, 84, of Bethlehem passed away on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 in St. Luke?s Hospital. He and his wife Rita Flasser Potocky have been married over 57 years. Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late John and Pauline Koval Potocky.
When George was 13 years old his father died. George worked ever since then, 71 years, retiring from his job with Sunguard Pentamation just last month where he had worked for 22 years. He also had worked for Bethlehem Fabricators for 25 years as a welder.
He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem where he served as an usher for many years. George was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and very much enjoyed going to the casinos. Over the years he held memberships at St. Bernards, the Grover Cleveland and the Catholic Sokols.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rita, his daughters Patricia, wife of Larry Mika of Bethlehem, Sharon, wife of James Yandrisovitz of Catasaqua, Diane, wife of Thomas Brown of Schnecksville, his sister Anna Casciano of Allentown and grandchildren Brett and Todd Mika and Kristen Brown.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem from 6 ? 8pm and on Saturday from 10:45 ? 11:45am. Funeral services will begin on Saturday with prayers at 11:45am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:15pm in SS Simon & Jude. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
