George John

George "Skip" John, Jr., 76, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, July 10, 2010 surrounded by his loving family, at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's.

He was born April 15, 1934 in Bethlehem, the son of the late George and Mary Mihalko John.

Skip is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Rose Marie Fondl John.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.

Skip retired in 1996 as the Supervisor of Bus Maintenance for the Bethlehem Area School District after 34 years of service.

He was a parishioner of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Skip will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose Marie; his children, George "Skip" John and his wife Annemarie; Bruce John and his wife Kathleen; Jacqueline Krause and her husband Jeffrey and Michael John and his wife Kelly all of Bethlehem. He is also survived by his sisters Rosemarie John, Theresa, wife of the late Joseph Sarik and his sister-in-law Patricia wife of the late Robert John. Skip's legacy will also live on in his grandchildren, Maria wife of Paul Marzen, George "Skip" John, David John, Amy Jo John, Justin John, Jacob John, Kaitlyn John, Michael John, Robert McClarin and his wife Katherine, Matthew McClarin and his wife Jennifer, and Michael McClarin, as well as his great grandchildren, Lilah and Elizabeth McClarin.

Skip was very active in Lehigh Little League and he was a member of the Goodfellows Club.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 8:30-9:30 AM in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 10 AM at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church 730 W. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
