George R. Husovsky

George R. Husovsky, 85, of Bethlehem, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Moravian Village in Bethlehem. He was born May 12, 1922 in Bethlehem, the son of the late John and Margaret Gress Husovsky. He was the loving husband of Geraldine A. Barron Husovsky. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past November.

George worked in the Communication Department at Bethlehem Steel for 37 years. He served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Marine Corp in the South Pacific, where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a college and high school football official for 25 years and was honored by the Bethlehem Chapter of PIAA Football Officials after 25 years of service. George belonged to the Bethlehem YMCA and the Catholic Sokols. He was a boys club volunteer and coached for his sons and granddaughters little league teams. He was a graduate of Lehigh University and remained very involved with Lehigh throughout his life.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Geraldine of Bethlehem. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, to sons, James Husovsky of Bethlehem, Richard Husovsky and wife Josefa of Bethlehem, John Husovsky and wife Teri of Elmgrove, LA; brothers, John and Charles Husovsky of Bethlehem; and his granddaughters, Marta, Mia and Jenna Husovsky.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church 617 Pierce St .Bethlehem, PA 18015. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
