George Snyder Steward, 77, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospice, Bethlehem, Pa. after a valiant battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease). He was born on June 27, 1936 in Allentown, son of the late Austin and Naomi (Snyder) Steward. He was the husband of Julie (Kerosetz) Steward. They were married for 36 years this past August. George began his career in the Bethlehem Steel Loop Program in 1958 and remained employed at Bethlehem Steel until his retirement in 1995. He was a proud member of Lehigh Universitys Class of 1958, Phi Beta Kappa Society, and the Industrial Engineering Program. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1958-1959. He was a member of the American Automobile Marketing Assoc, Council of Industrial Engineer Management, and Automotive Research Council. George was active in the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge, a member of the Lehigh Valley Consistory, and the Barber shoppers (SBEBSQSA). He was an active outdoorsman in activities as a golfer, fisherman, and hunter and served on the board of the Blue Heron Club.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Julie, daughter Stephanie Ann Mackey and husband Richard of McLean, VA, grandson Philip Richard Mackey, sister, Carolyn Sharer of Greenville, SC, and adored brother-in-law and uncle to many.
Graveside services will be held 11am Wednesday June 25, 2014 at Bethlehem Memorial Park in Bethlehem, Pa.
