George Ziyacz

February 24, 1917 — November 5, 2006

George Ziyacz, 89, of Freemansburg, died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. Born February 24, 1917 in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Julia Garich Ziyacz. He was the husband of the late Agnes Horvath Ziyacz.

George worked as a Carpenter for Bethlehem Steel for over 20 years. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army- Air Force. He was a member of The Heights A.A. and a member of St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church of Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by, his two sisters, Julia Kovach of Freemansburg, and Mary Jones of Ashland, VA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and the children of Margaret and Agnes.

He was preceded in death by, his first wife, Sophie Rosko Ziyacz, second wife, Margaret Levitsky Ziyacz and a sister, Helen Ziyacz.

Services: A Panachida will be held, Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at Ss Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 1140 Johnston Dr. Bethlehem. Visitation will be Thursday, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church.
