Giuseppe A. Laforgia

Giuseppe “Joe” LaForgia, 71, of Albrightsville, beloved husband of Chiara (Cappello) LaForgia for 44 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on December 15, 2013 The late son of Arcangelo Raffaele and Palma (LoMartire) LaForgia, Giuseppe was born in Molfetta, Italy on September 27, 1942.

Giuseppe was a proud father to his son, Raffaele A. LaForgia and wife, Jaime, of Northampton and daughter Palma Ponte and husband, Joseph, of North Babylon, NY. He was also an active and devoted grandfather to his four grandchildren, Giulia, Joseph, Jaxon, and Giovanna.

Growing up in Italy, Giuseppe worked with his hands in various aspects of the construction industry from a young age, only stopping to proudly serve in both the Italian Navy and Merchant Marines. He immigrated to the United States in 1968, where he met his wife and worked diligently to create a life for his family. Eventually, Giuseppe put his skills to use when he started a construction business in 1980. A true master of all trades, he built and remodeled homes in the tri-state area; he touched the lives of many clients who, because of his affability, often became longtime friends.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of 7C at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and are grateful for the time we spent with him.

Family and friends are invited to The Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Thursday, December 19 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Another visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 8-9:15 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 AM at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family care of Connell Funeral Home.
