Nazareth

Guy Matthew Connelly, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on July 8, 2024. Guy was born on the stroke of midnight between January 21 and January 22, 1949 and happily celebrated two birthdays for the rest of his life. He grew up in Winfield, New Jersey where his dad taught him how to fix everything. He was a hero and protector to his little brother, Kevin. He graduated from Rahway High School and then studied mechanical engineering at Lehigh University, earning both a Bachelors and a Masters degree.

Guy was a brilliant, extroverted adventurer, curious about the world and appreciative of all things beautiful, strange and silly. Kids gravitated to him and dogs loved him. He loved the Beatles, fracture mechanics, windsurfing, swimming far out in the ocean, BBC miniseries, Science Club, airplanes, graceful old bridges and good beer. He loved being a father and grandfather, and would take a deep interest in anything his kids were into so he could learn and spend time with them.

An avid biker, he loved to take off with his buddies, exploring all over the East Coast on two wheels. He aimed to bike 4,000 miles each year, taking pictures at each 100 mile interval to document his adventures.

Guy is survived by and deeply missed by his wife Robin of 46 years, his three children and their spouses, Erin (Chris Hnat), Ryan and Kevin (Brittany Anderson Connelly), and grandson Griffin. His newest grandchild, a baby girl, will be arriving this fall. He is also survived by his brother Kevin Connelly (Tacie), sisters-in-law Janis Cash (Gene) and Leslie Sadlon (Barry), six nieces and nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Connelly.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Guy's honor to the Coalition for Appropriate Transportation, 1935 West Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 and/or St. Luke's Hospice, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, PA 18015 who provided loving, compassionate care in his final days.

A celebration of life will be held in the early fall. Online condolences may be offered www.connellfuneral.com
