Helen A. Baba, 99, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Mary Ellen Convalescent Home, Hellertown.

She was born in Bethlehem on May 24, 1912; the daughter of the late Mathew and Lena Bertai Gerencher.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Louis Baba.

During WWII, Helen worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. and later served as a Research Inspector and part-time model for R.K. Laros and Co.

She was a member of St. John Capistrano Catholic Church.

She was Past President of the Edgeboro Pembroke Auxiliary and held various positions for 35 years. Helen also served as Secretary for the Jefferson Democratic Club Auxiliary and Past President of the Independent Democratic Auxiliary.

Helen was Judge of Elections of the 9th Ward, 3rd District for 12 years and worked the polls for 34 years.

Helen is survived by her brother, Geza Gerencher and his wife Dorothy of Lower Saucon Twp.; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Gerencher of Bethlehem and her brother-in-law, Charles Sterner of Dover, DE as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Violette Sterner and brothers, Zoltan, Joseph and William.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 10-11 AM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a funeral ceremony to immediately follow in the funeral home at 11 AM.

Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
