Helen Chaszar

July 2, 1921 — April 13, 2009

Helen Chaszar, 87, of Bethlehem, went home to be with the Lord and her son, William, who died on Easter Sunday in 2005 on Monday, April 13, 2009. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Theresa Mahl Kauker.

Helen worked as a cashier for Pantry Pride for over 30 years and later worked for M.W. Wood at Lehigh University. She also volunteered her time in the library at Gov. Wolf Elementary School while her granddaughter Ashley attended. She also volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital in the gift shop in the Pricilla Payne building.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, their Fellowship Club, Mother's Club of the Southside Boys Club from 1960-1975 and the Tri-State Retail Clerks Union.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara, wife of Randall Miller with whom she resided, son, Frank Chaszar of Bethlehem; sisters, Anne Gralka and Violet Kisslinger both of Bethlehem; seven grandchildren, Nancy, wife of Timothy O'Keefe of Allentown; William, Jr, David and his wife, Tammy all of Bethlehem; Heather, wife of Lou Pizzolatto of Danielsville; Ashley Miller, Courtney and Cody Chaszar of Bethlehem; nine great-grandchildren, Justin & Samantha O'Keefe, Nicole, Jarrett, Jordan, Christine, Nicholas, Zachary and Alex Vash, who were all her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Frank, William & Joseph Kauker and her sisters, Mary Gulya, Margaret Takach, Teresa Schwartz & Elizabeth Pavlinsky.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, 1227 Liberty St. Allentown, PA 18102 or S.P.C.A., 1165 Island Park Rd. Easton, PA 18042

Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
