Helen Clarkson

Helen Clarkson, 85, of Bethlehem went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12th. She was the loving wife of John Clarkson. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November.

She was born in Inkerman, PA on August 10, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn Dougher.

Helen was a graduate of East Stroudsburg University. She was an English teacher for many years in PA and Wilmington, DE. After teaching, Helen spent her retirement years in Whiting, NJ and Sarasota, FL. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem.

In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by three daughters; Cathy, wife of Joe Smagala of Brookhaven, PA, Linda, wife of Joe McDonald of Bethlehem, and Donna wife of Richard Stamer of Malvern, PA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marie Dougher. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasaqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018 at 11 AM. There will be a calling hour in the church from 10-11 AM.
