Helen Elizabeth Merlo

Helen Elizabeth Merlo, 92, of Bethlehem died Friday November 14, 2008 at Old Orchard Manor Care in the presence of her family. She was born June 18, 1916 in Catasauqua, Pa., daughter of the late John and Mary Rongyos Makovetz. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Merlo. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1984.

Helen worked as a secretary for the TB Society and a bookkeeper for the Bushkill Paper Co. in Easton. She graduated from the St. Lawrence Business School. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem Twp. and was a member of the secular or 3rd Order of St. Francis for 46 years.

Helen was devoted to her family and church and always tried to do things with the highest standards.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Thomas J. Merlo of Fairborn, OH, daughters, Marie D. Merlo , and Margaret Mary Burns both of Bethlehem, Kathleen A. Tavianini and husband Gene of Yorba Linda, CA, and Roberta McFadden and husband Harry of Mebane, NC, sister- Rose Hannigan of Philadelphia, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers George, Edward and John, and sisters, Margaret Milander, and Lucille Davalos

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM on Saturday November 22, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, Pa. 18020 . Calling hours from 9-11AM in the church.

Burial at Northampton Memorial Shrine

Contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels 4240 Fritch Dr. Bethlehem, Pa. 18020 and/or A Hospice Organization of your choice.
