Helen (Polansky) Hubach 78
Perfector of the Chocolate Cheesecake
Helen Hubach passed away Friday, Feb. 10th peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends. Helen died from lack of breath. She increased the population of Kaska, PA by 1 on September 15, 1938. She was born to a hard working coal miner, late Michael Polansky and his loving wife, late Wanda (Garbish). She became the beloved Big Sister to the late Ted Polansky (Georgia), Michael Polansky (Mary), and Geraldine Polansky (Leo Cairns). Helen started school at age 4 when she couldn't resist peeking over the school yard fence and graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School in 1955. She attended Drexel University and began a 40 year career in research working for SmithKline and French Laboratories where she survived multiple mergers over the years and made some wonderful friends. Through 1966-1967, Helen performed two of her biggest accomplishments in life by giving birth to her caring daughter, Michele Thomas and intelligent son, Vincent Hubach (Eugenia). Helen often tempted her children to see if “the grass really is greener on the other side of the street" and often encouraged them to “stop and smell the flowers”. She always cherished time with her two grandchildren Andrew Thomas and Sarah Thomas, and loved teaching them to cook and bake. Helen also enjoyed opportunities travelling with her family and friends, tending her garden, canning vegetables, and making jams. Although Helen never said it, she truly loved her granddoggers, Toots, LuLu, and Tyson "Rover". When asked, “Whats wrong mom?” she would always answer, “Nothing“, “Leave me alone”, or “Im fine”. Well, we never really believed you Mom, but now we will.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Helen's name to one of her favorite charities: Mercy Hospice in Phila., PA, March of Dimes or St Vincent de Paul Society, Paige Place, Lady Lake FL. Donations can also be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation through Helen's online Tribute.
Arrangements are entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA.
