Helen K. Jakisa

Helen K. Unguren Jakisa, 80, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. Born February 19, 1931 in Lower Saucon Township she was the daughter of the late Nellie Stork and Simon Unguren. She was married to the late Stephen Jakisa.

Helen worked as a teacher for the Diocese of Allentown retiring in 1997. She also volunteered as the secretary for the former St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Helen was a former parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and currently Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Allentown.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Linda Shannon and Cheryl wife of Guy Mittl, sister, Dorothy wife of Joseph Bartholomew, Sr., brother, George Unguren and wife Jeannie and granddaughters, Jennifer Sandt and Jill Ruehle. She will also be remembered by her five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son in law, Edward Shannon, Jr.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-8 PM and on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 8:45 to 9:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church 1065 Fullerton Ave., Allentown, PA 18102 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
