Helen K. Makary, 96, of Bethlehem, was called to come home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Bethlehem on April 12, 1914; the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Pondelek Kercsman.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Frank Makary.

Helen retired in 1976 from Fountain Hill Mills where she worked as a sewing machine operator for 41 years. Previously she worked for her parents? bar and restaurant, The Roosevelt, located on 5th and Polk Streets in South Bethlehem.

She was a member of St. John Windish Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where she was devoted to the Missionary Society, Altar Society and Sick and Benefit Association of South Bethlehem

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her son, Frank J. Makary and his wife Birdie of Bethlehem; her granddaughter, Jennifer of Philadelphia and grandson, Ross and his wife, Suzanne of Weaversville as well as Helen?s great grandchildren, Reece and Rachel.

She was also predeceased by her sisters Mary Duga and Anne Ruyak and her brother, Joseph Kercsmar.

The family will receive friends at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 Tonight, December 21, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 PM.

Another viewing will be held at St. John Windish Lutheran Church 617 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service immediately following.

Burial will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
