Helen Majczan

Helen (Obal) Majczan, 90, formerly of Bethlehem and a life long resident of the Lehigh Valley, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She was born August 14, 1922 in Sobota, Hungary while her mother was visiting relatives. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Maria (Zelko) Obal and was predeceased by her sister, Margaret (Obal) Polaha of Bethlehem. Helen was the devoted wife of nearly 69 years to Frank Majczan, Sr. with whom she resided at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley, PA. The two were married on June 10, 1944.

Helen was a 1940 graduate of Liberty High School and attended Bethlehem Business College. She was the first woman hired to work in the offices of the Drop Forge Department at Bethlehem Steel Corp.

Helen was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Helen and her husband Frank devoted their lives to their three sons and their families, attending every activity, sporting event and milestone in their lives. Helen was a devoted Catholic and when she and Frank had free time they traveled worldwide to renowned religious shrines.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank L. Sr.; sons, Frank L. Majczan, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Lower Saucon Township, Robert S. Majczan and his wife, Kimberley of Furlong and Raymond C. Majczan and his wife, Paula of Center Valley, eight grandchildren: Mrs. Nicole Majczan Gallela (Anthony), Mrs. Allison Majczan Mafodda (Michael), Mrs. Heather Majczan Corkery (Ryan) Mr. Chad Douglas Majczan (Diana DelValle), Ms. Caitlin A. Majczan, Mrs. Abbey Majczan Gohl (Frank), Ms. Corrine Elise Majczan, and Ms. Brianne Marie Majczan. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Madeline Beth Mafodda, Alexandra Lynn Mafodda, Jackson Edgar Majczan and Tessa Riley Corkery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:15 AM in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church.
