Helen T. Yencho, 88, of Allentown, long time resident of 2007 Sixth St. Bethlehem, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Luther Crest Retirement Village. She was born January 14, 1920 in Coral, PA, the daughter of the late John J. and Anna M. Sopko Dobay. She was the loving wife of the late George P. Yencho.

Earlier in Helen's life, she worked as a seamstress for the former Laros Silk Mill. She also worked as a cashier for the former Almarts, Jefferson Ward and retired from Bradlees. Helen loved crocheting, sewing and puzzles. She loved to cook and bake for her children and enjoyed watching the Phillies.

She was a devout Catholic and a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bethlehem Twp.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Maryann and son-in-law, John Rosenthal of Fogelsville; Bernadine Monteith of Vestal, N.Y.; son, George Young of Utah; daughter, Eleanor Kaczmarczyk of Wernersville; sister, Dorothy, wife of Robert Danchik of Maryland; brother, Albert Dobay of Graceton; sisters, Mary Ann Nordby of Indiana, Pa; Margaret Raykos of Bethlehem; an uncle, Joseph Sopko of Bethlehem; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Monday, June 9, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 First St. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers or contributions, a Mass offered in Helen's name would be appreciated.
