Helen Unger

Helen (Kuseryk) Unger of Bethlehem, born January 2, 1926, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 1st after a long illness. Helen was the beloved wife of Ludwig A. Unger, with whom she shared 68 happy years of marriage. Born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Stephan and Katherine Kuseryk.

Helen was a lifelong Catholic and dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem. The depth of her caring and compassion for others was manifest in the way she lived her life. Helen received her 5 year pin from Laros Industries before she became a full time homemaker for her loving family. Later, she worked many years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in the cafeteria and at St Annes Church in the convent. She also served as a volunteer at the St Lukes Hospital Cottage. She most enjoyed caring for her family, sewing and quilting.

Helen is survived by her loving husband Ludwig, brother Stephen Kuszeryk and his wife Shirley, her sister Catherine Behler and husband Gerald. Helen was predeceased by her sisters Mary Bobal, Anna Huesz and Rose Dieter. She is also survived by her four children, son Ronald T. Unger and his wife Kandy of Bethlehem; daughter Patricia and her husband William Mueller of Randolph NJ; son Thomas J. Unger and his companion Brenda Trumbauer of Bethlehem; daughter Carolyn and her husband Charles Goodman of Wexford PA. She was also the grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Brian Mueller and his companion Kerry Thompson, Matthew Mueller and his wife Leigh, Laura Mueller, Gregory Goodman, Connor Goodman and Eric Goodman. She was also the great-grandmother of Zachary Mueller.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Another visitation will be held on Monday from 9:15-9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.
