Helen Velekei

Helen Velekei, 91, of Bethlehem Twp., died on Monday, December 8, 2008 at St.Lukes Hospital in Fountain Hill. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Frances Pirtowski Zolnierzak. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Velekei.

Helen worked for the Allentown State Hospital for 22 years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of the ZNP Lodge, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem Twp., and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children, John A. Velekei, II and his wife, Anette, of Whitehall; James E. Velekei and his wife, Judy, of Neffs; Frank Velekei of Bethlehem; Theresa F., wife of the late Charles Lawhead of Bethlehem Twp.;

Maryann, wife of Charles Murphy of Nevada, Helen, wife of Lawrence Rapp of Fountain Hill; Dolores, wife of William Johnson of Mohnton, PA; a sister, Mary Kropnicki, 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Johanna Halloff and Frances Pintande, a son, Paul Velekei and sisters, Sophie Eschback and Agnes Moyer.
