Hoptasiana Rivera

Hoptasiana ?Tasiana? Huertas Rivera, 77, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St.Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem. Born July 15, 1933 in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Georgina Ocasio and Raimundo Huertas. She was married to her late husband Maximino Rivera.

Hoptasiana was a very active member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem where she was a member of The Cursillo De Cristiandad and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sacred Heart Society where she served as the secretary. She also taught Catechism classes at the church. Tasiana was a very devoted mother to her children and a very loyal member to her church. She would volunteer much of her time to the church and her community. Tasiana was very strong, joyous and giving person. She will always be remembered as a saint to her family and friends.

Hoptasiana will be lovingly remembered by her children, Wilfredo Rivera of Bethlehem, Evelyn Rivera of Lancaster, Nereida wife of Mark Troxell of Eygpt and Orlando Rivera husband of Georgette of Allentown, brothers, Luis Huertas and Bernardo Huertas both are of Puerto Rico. She will also be remembered by her ten grandchildren, Vanessa, Damaris, Delila, Alexander, Anthony, Ian, Jason and Adrienne and five great grandchildren, Mike, Micayla, Chloe, Caleb and Isabella.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hipolita Huertas and Virginia Ruiz.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 PM. Another viewing will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. Fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 from 9-10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
