Irene Brodie

Irene Brodie aged 93, died peacefully on October 26, 2017. Irene was born in Erie, PA. She moved to Bethlehem when a young child and grew up during the Great Depression. Forced to leave school at an early age to help support her family, she began a long housekeeping career working for a local physician at age 14. Years later, she moved to East Orange, NJ to be closer to family and began working at Tung-Sol Electric Co. during WWII. There she met her future husband, Gilbert. They were together for 45 years.

Some years later Irene resumed housekeeping, which saw her travel the country in service of corporate leaders and Hollywood producers. Retiring to Bethlehem later in life, Irene became a caregiver to her mother, and maintained her fabulous cooking and interest in interior design. Irene was particularly concerned for wounded veterans and was also a student of the bible on a daily basis.

Irene was a kind soul and will be lovingly remembered by her son Hugh, nieces Nancy Walsh and Debby Morris, many relatives and friends.
