Irene F. Halkias

Irene F. Halkias, 80, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was born in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Grgurinovic. She was the loving wife of Theodore "Ted" G. Halkias. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this November 18th.

Irene worked as an administrative assistant for the Bethlehem Housing Authority for 15 years before retiring in 1980.

She was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church of Bethlehem and their Women's Guild and choir. She loved reading, shopping, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ted, of Bethlehem; sons, George S. Halkias & his wife, Toni of Bethlehem; Theodore N. Halkias & his wife, Monica of Bath; and her granddaughters, Anne, Laura, Katie, Rachel and Natalie.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Grgurinovic.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1065 Fullerton Ave. Allentown, PA 18102. Visitation will be held, from 8:30 a.m. -10 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
