Irene F. Sillup

Irene F. Sillup, 85, of Bethlehem died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. She was born June 15, 1927, in Larksville, PA, a daughter of the late Walter and Lillian A. (Luckenbach) Sobolewski. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John S. Sillup.

Irene was a seamstress at several factories in Phillipsburg, NJ, and Jermyn, PA, before dedicating her life to her family. Prior to Bethlehem, she lived in Mayfield, KY, Scott Township, PA, and Phillipsburg. She was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert W. Sillup and his wife, Angela, of Land O Lakes, FL; Jack S. and his wife, Mary, of Freehold, NJ; and Michael and his wife, Diane, of Glen Ridge, NJ; sisters, Alice Voycheck of Goffstown, NH; and Helen Wojciechowski of Vineland, NJ; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her sister Edwina Hunter and her brother, Edmund Sobolewski.

A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, from 6-8 PM at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Drums, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be applied toward Mass offerings in honor of Irene and/or made to Catholic Charities, 530 Union Blvd. Allentown, PA 18109.
