Irene M. Kostelnik of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Moravian Village in Bethlehem. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Urban and Anna Balik Kostelnik and step-daughter to the late Ignatius Kostelnik.
Irene worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a legal secretary in the patent department of the Homer Research Lab for over 40 years. She retired in 1983 but continued working part-time as a consultant.
She was a member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and their Senior Group. For many years, Irene served as Financial Secretary for the Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath 32. She was also a member of the FCSA Branch 89.
Survivors include, sisters, Helen Kostelnik of Bethlehem, with whom she resided, Mary Aylward & husband Paul of Bethlehem, brothers, George Kostelnik & wife Barbara of Bethlehem; Francis Kostelnik, MD & wife Elizabeth of Springtown; two nephews, one grand niece and three grand nephews. She was preceded in death by,
a sister, Annamae Kostelnik, RN.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10 a.m. at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. till the time of service. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem. Memorials may be made to the church.
