Irene Murray

Irene Brown Murray, late of Walpole, Massachusetts, passed away at the age of 100 on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Faulkner Hospital.

Born in Easton, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1908, Irene was the daughter of the late Harry Brown and Anna Upman Brown. She spent most of her life in and around Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Irene graduated from Liberty High School and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College in 1941. In 1943, she married her beloved husband, the late Francis A. Murray.

Irene lived a full life surrounded by a loving family and friends. She was active in her community and church. In Bethlehem, Irene worked as an elementary school teacher specializing in art and music; she was a member of the Bethlehem Women's' Club, the Saucon Valley Country Club, and St. Anne's Catholic Church.

In 1996, Irene moved to Walpole, Massachusetts, where she spent the last twelve years of her life living with her daughter, Francine T. Murray, and her grandchildren. Irene was a member of Walpole's Blessed Sacrament Church.

In addition to her daughter, Irene is survived by her two grandchildren, Erik Murray-Knox and Justin McFadden-Murray; and by three nieces and their families.

SEVICES

A calling period will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017 from 9:30-10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home, Inc.
