Irene Valentine

Irene Valentine, 100, of Bethlehem, died on March 14, 2016. She was born on September 23, 1915 in Allentown; daughter of the late Frank and Barbara (Omotar) Slebiss, and step daughter to the late Anne Slebiss. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Marion Valentine, her sister Mary Flandorffer, her daughter Eleanor Gemma, Eleanors husband Cardy Gemma and her grandson Michael Gatti.

Irene worked for the former Schobel Brothers Tie Factory on 3rd Street in Bethlehem prior to dedicating her life to her family as a homemaker. She was a former parishioner of St. John Capistrano Catholic Church, a member of the 1st Windish Fraternal Society and a lifetime member of the Hungarian Catholic Club.

She is survived by her daughter Rosemarie Gatti, 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. All were in attendance for a 100th birthday celebration in October where she was presented with recognition for reaching that milestone from the President of the United States and Pope Francis.

A viewing from 8:00-10:00 AM and brief service at 10 AM will be held at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. in Bethlehem, on Saturday March 19th followed by Internment at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden St. in Bethlehem.
