Ismael Rivera

Ismael “Charlie” Rivera, 90, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. He was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico; son of the late Juan and Monica (Vazquez) Rivera. Ismael was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Juana “Carmen” “LaLa” (Vazquez) Rivera.

In 1985, Ismael retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a foreman. He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church and was a member of the Puerto Rican Beneficial Society. Ismael was a talented craftsman and was integral in the renovations of both the church hall and the Puerto Rican Club.

Ismael will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Ida Rivera and son, Izzy Rivera both of Bethlehem; granddaughter Dr. Monica Rivera; and his brother, Juan Rivera and sister, Carmen Maria.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
