James Austin Hagen

James A. Hagen, 76, of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Mexico, ME and New Fairfield, CT passed away on Saturday, January 06, 2018. Born in Mexico, ME, he was the son of the late Lenora (French-Smith) and Austin Hagen. He was the loving husband of the late Kathleen Joyce (Mascaro) Hagen.

Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Proud of his Maine heritage, he graduated from the University of Maine and worked his way to become the VP of Sales for Guinness and New Castle Brown Ale. Jim was an avid fly fisherman and was co-owner of English Angling Trapping catalog. He enjoyed fishing, Irish folk music, writing “Jims Beer Notes” and watching the Yankees. Jim adored his grand dogs, Abby, Bailey and Sam. He especially loved being a father and grandfather.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kelly Jo van Krieken and her husband Carl; granddaughter Isabel; cousins, Peter and Becky Robichaud and sister in law, Maureen Brodkey. Jim was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Edith and Ernest Robichaud.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Annes Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. in the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Soldiers Lot in Augusta, Maine.
