James E. Dundon

James E. Dundon, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away at Country Meadows on February 26, 2015 after a long bout with cancer. He was born September 12, 1927 in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late James and Sarah Connolly Dundon. James was married to Elizabeth Brady in 1965. He retired from the Bethlehem Area School District after 42 years of service. He served as Principal of the Franklin, Edgeboro, Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson and Fountain Hill Schools. He earned his Bachelors degree from Moravian College and his Masters in Education from Lehigh University.

James served on the United Appeals Board (United Fund); and Treasurer of the State Principal Association; President of the Bethlehem Administrators and Supervisors Organization; President of the Moravian College Alumni Association (Lehigh Valley Chapter); President of the Bethlehem Principals Association; and President of the Leaders Council of the YMCA.

James was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus; Sertoma Club; National Association of Elementary School Principals and PA State Education Association. He also volunteered his time with WRRS/RAD/PRIN where he would read news to those with vision impairments; Holy Family Manor; Lupus Foundation of America; YMCA Youth Board; and the Northampton County Community Council. James enjoyed traveling, golfing, walking and reading. His great regret in life was that he could not spend more time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his daughter Mary Frances Hart and her husband, Larry of San Carlos, CA; son, Lt. Col. Patrick Dundon; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Veronica and Madelyn Dundon and Lawrence James Hart. James is also survived by his brother, Richard and his wife, Regina and a nephew Timothy James Dundon.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Wednesday, March 4, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4, at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
