James M. Fitzpatrick

James M. Fitzpatrick, “Fitz”, 88, of Bethlehem Twp. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 1, 2015. He was born February 16, 1927 in Ashley, PA; son of the late James and Margaret (Reidle) Fitzpatrick. James is survived by his devoted wife, Mary J. (Reiser) Fitzpatrick. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this June 14th. Jim proudly served in the US Coast Guard. Upon his honorable discharge, he studied at St. James Business College in Baltimore, MD. Jim began his accounting career with the Bethlehem Steel Co. at the Sparrows Point plant until fate intervened and he met Mary on a business trip to the Bethlehem office. Jim transferred and continued his career with the Bethlehem Steel Co. in Bethlehem until his retirement. He was a very active parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as a Eucharistic minister. Jim also served on the lay board for the St. Francis Retreat House, volunteered 2000 hours at St. Lukes Hospital, volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was active at the Notre Dame High School carnival.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary and was a loving father to his children, Terence J. Fitzpatrick of Bethlehem; Denise M. Beck, wife of the late Robert of Pawtucket, RI; Regina M. Fitzpatrick of Bethlehem and Patrice Kolar, wife of Joseph of Northampton. Jim was preceded in death by his step-brother, Thomas Dougher.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8-9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 1st St. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
