James P. Collins, Jr.

February 8, 1927 — May 3, 2007

James P. Collins, Jr., 80, of Bethlehem, died May 3, 2007, at his residence. Born February 8, 1927, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late James P. and Helen O?Loughlin Collins. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine Lewis Collins.

Jim was a graduate of West Chester State Teacher?s College and received a Masters in History from Lehigh University. He was a teacher for the B.A.S.D. for 37 years. He taught at Broughal for 19 years and at Nitschmann for 18 years. After retiring in 1987, he continued to substitute teach until 2004. Jim was a past president of the Bethlehem Education Association and served on the board of directors for the Bethlehem Teachers Federal Credit Union for many years. He was a WWII Navy veteran.

Survivors: wife, Lorraine; daughters, Susan C. Sillivan and her husband Rusty; Mimi Collins and her husband Michael Bouchier; and Lori C. Gilmartin and her husband Fred, all of Bethlehem; sister, Anne Frey of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Mara, Ryan, Seamus, Erin, Caitlin, Aislinn, and Michael; great granddaughter, Emma. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Jack.
