Jane Ann (Breidenbach) Fisher, 86, wife of Lin Fisher, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 after receiving excellent care at Whitehall and Parkland Manors.
Born in Fountain Hill, Jane was one of 15 children born to Ludwig and Naomi (Weil) Breidenbach. Jane graduated from Fountain Hill High School, where during the Summers, she worked in the Silk Mills and she was regularly commended for the speed and quality of her piece work. After graduation, she worked at Bethlehem Steel as a secretary.
In 1956, she married Ernest Hughes and they were together until his sudden passing in 1997. A year and a half later, Jane met Frank (Lin) Fisher and they were married on June 4,1999.
In 1968, she graduated from nursing school and joined St. Luke’s Hospital where she enjoyed over 30 years working with her co-workers and caring for her patients.
Jane was an active, ten-year member of Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company #1, where she served in the Fire Police Unit. Church involvement included Mothers’ Club at Christ UCC Bethlehem in her early years and a Hospital Ministrant for Grace Church Bethlehem.
Jane was a high energy person who had many interests. She was particularly adept at interior decoration, gardening and organizing and maintaining a beautiful home.
Survivors: son Gregory Hughes (Ariana Salagianis) of Hanover Township, daughter Susan Hughes (George Dudnikov) of San Jose, California and her two step-daughters Jillian Fisher of Chester, Maryland and Bronnie Fisher Fiely (Kevin) of Newtown, Pennsylvania. Jane has three grandchildren: Nicholas Dudnikov, Alex Dudnikov, and Sarah Fiely.
Brother Thomas Briedenbach (Jan) and sisters Jean Radford (William), Lucille Ratarsk, Mary Ann Stahler, Linda Budzyn (Joseph), Ann Anthony (Richard).
Jane was preceded in death by her sisters June Cope, Shirley Strokelitus, Diane Garland, and brothers Charles, Paul, Richard, Robert and Donald Breidenbach.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Nisky Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
