Jean C. Weiss

Jean C. Weiss, 81, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Moravian Village.

She was born on August 18, 1927 in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Clara E. Horvath Sofranko.

Jean graduated from nursing school and began her nursing career in Philadelphia. After working as a civilian nurse for 10 years she joined the United States Navy Nurse Corps, proudly serving her country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Colorado in 1968. Jean retired from the U.S. Navy as a Commander in 1978 after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her aunt, Margaret wife of Al Middleton of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Albert G. Weiss

In her free time, Jean enjoyed painting, traveling and golfing. She was also a member of the Bethlehem Womens Bowling Association and the Golden Hillers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem PA 18020.

Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
