Jean S. Montgomery, 90, passed away on 04/09/2018. She was born July 29, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Marguerite and John B. Scanlan. Jean graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY, in 1948. She worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn and then St. Lukes Hospital, when her family moved to Bethlehem. She married Charles M. “Dee” Montgomery in October 1951. After raising three children, she returned to work at the Miller Memorial Blood Center.
Jean was an active member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity since 1969, serving as a Sacristan, Choir Mother, Lay Eucharistic Minister, as well as a member of the Altar Guild committee. She was also a member of the Property Committee and acted as secretary for many years. Jean most recently enjoyed being a volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital in the surgery communication area.
She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Ellen, and by her husband, Charles. She is survived by her children, John and wife Kathy, Charles and wife Alison, Ruth and her husband Randy, her grandchildren Kaitlin, Sean, Allison, Alyssa, Michael and Ian.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday May 5 at 1 pm at The Cathedral Church of the Nativity. Contributions are not necessary. If so inclined, they may be made to The Cathedral Church of the Nativity - Altar Guild Committee, 321 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem, PA 18015
