Jesus M. Ortiz

Jesus M. Ortiz, 81 of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Hospice House of St. Lukes. He was born on January 8, 1934 in Coamo, Puerto Rico, son of the late Felix Ortiz and Margarita Figueroa. He was the husband of Carmen M. (Torres) Ortiz. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this past February. Jesus was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Jesus served in the Korean War for three years. He later worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, as a welder, retiring after 30 years of service. He was an active member of Puerto Rican Beneficial Society where he served as President, Stewart and member of the Executive Board of the organization for several years. Jesus was awarded the Visionary Award from the Spanish Council in 2008.

Jesus was predeceased by a sister, Norma Nieves. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jesus Ortiz Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, daughters, Lisa Sarkozy of Bethlehem, and Fay Ortiz from Williamsport, PA; brothers, Teodosio Nieves and Lucas Ortiz, sisters, Carmen Solivan and Olga Rodriguez, and grandchildren Julius Sarkozy, Sean Ortiz Golden and Olivia Sarkozy.

A viewing will be held from 5-8pm on Monday December 7, 2015 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018 followed by a prayer service at 8pm. Graveside services will be held 10am Wednesday Dec. 9, 2015 at the Bethlehem Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors.
