Joan E. Ballek

Joan E. Ballek, 83, formerly of East Allen Township, and more recently of Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Born in East Allen Township, Joan was the only child of the late Earl and Edna (Walters) Fehr. Joan and her late husband, William R. Ballek celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary prior to his passing.

Joan was a graduate of Bethlehem High School and later earned her nursing degree from St. Lukes Nursing School in 1954. She enjoyed her work as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Lukes Hospital prior to dedicating her life to her family. She was active with the church serving on the Church Council of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schoenersville and was a member of the Altar Guild. Joan was more recently a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bath, PA. Joan enjoyed golfing and was a member of Silver Creek Country Club. She and her husband, Bill served on the Ski Patrol for Camelback Mountain Ski Resort. Joan was also a member of the Purple Hats.

She will be dearly missed by all the people she met. Joan is survived by her daughters Susan of Tannersville, PA and Lisa of Good Shepherd, Bethlehem, and several nieces; a nephew; great-nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and on Monday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, 2354 Grove Road Allentown, PA 18109. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and inurnment will be held at Schoenersville Cemetery.
