Joan M. Andrews

Joan Mies Andrews, 83, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on February 11, 2024. She was born on October 18, 1940, in Bethlehem, PA, to the late Angela C. (Hoffstetter) and John F. Mies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. Andrews, her son Matthew M. Andrews, and her siblings Anna Marie Minarik and John “Jack” L. Mies.

Joan graduated from Central Catholic High School. Professionally, she served as the Editor of the Class Columns and the In Remembrance portions of the Lehigh University Alumni Bulletin for many years. Joan had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, reading, dominating in Scrabble, listening to music, taking walks with her little dog Bella and embracing the beauty of nature on a beautiful day.

She is survived by her sister, Adelaide Ortwein, and her children: Stephen and Jason Andrews and Caroline (Callie) Velas. Joan also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Ryan, Gabriel, Quinn, and Henry.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Inurnment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in Joan's memory.
