Joan Willey Thirion

Joan Willey Thirion, 81, of Glen Cove, NY, formerly of Bethlehem, PA passed away on Thursday May 25, 2023, in NY. She was born in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late J. Jere and Agnes (Brugger) Willey. She was the wife of the late John Thirion. Joan was a proud graduate of Chestnut Hill College and after graduation she worked as a programmer for General Dynamics and later for Binney & Smith. She also worked as a stockbroker and certified financial planner for EF Hutton and Prudential Bache. She owned the Yoga & Health Studio in Bethlehem and Awareness Works in the Poconos. Joans spiritual journey led her to deeply explore the beliefs of many cultures. She immersed herself in the Transcendental Meditation community including studying directly with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Joan earned a masters in Transpersonal Psychology, and was a certified yoga teacher, massage therapist, reiki master and shaman. She enjoyed birding, camping, swimming, kayaking, dancing, water coloring, and found serenity in nature. Joan traveled throughout the world, visiting many sacred sites, especially enjoying those sacred to women.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son; Thomas Link, daughters; Kristin Pepper, and Karen Capozza, brother; Jere Willey, sister; Susan Willey, and grandchildren; Mary Pepper, Carrie Smithing, and Gabe Symer.

A viewing will be held from 6-8pm Friday June 2, 2023, at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a graveside service 11am Saturday June 3, 2023, at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem, PA.
