Joanna V. Niesar

Joanna V. Niesar, 98, of Beaufort, SC died on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at River Oaks Residential Care in South Carolina.

She was born February 12, 1913 in Allentown, PA; the daughter of the late Pasquale and Alfonsina Fina Viglione former owners of the Hofbrau Restaurant and Viglione Confection on Hamilton Blvd. in Allentown.

Joanna graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Allentown. After graduating she married the late Captain George F. Niesar. Joanna and George moved to Hamburg, N.Y. where they lived for many years while George was the District Agent for Bethlehem Steel Shipping on the Great Lakes. They retired in 1970 moving to Beaufort, South Carolina.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, George Francis Niesar of Bluffton, SC and Gerald Viglione Niesar and his wife Ortrun of Oakland, CA, grandchildren, Thomas, Kirsten, Christopher, Catherine and Eric, great grandchildren, Sophie, Nicolas, Evan, Nastasja, Nelao and Ndina. She is also survived by numerous relatives of the Fina, Altieri, Tallarico, Riola, O'Donnell and Seward families of the Lehigh Valley.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Viglione and sister, Rose Viglione Altieri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem PA 18020. A calling period will be held from 8:30-10 AM in the church. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Whitehall.
