Joanne L. Friedman

Joanne Louise Friedman, 78, of Bethlehem, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, November 21, 2016. Born in Allentown and raised in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irma (Szankovics) Edraney. She was the devoted wife of Joseph S. Friedman; they were married 49 years this December. Joanne was employed by Weis Markets and Marshalls for the past 15 years. She previously worked at the Pentagon as a secretary as well as Petrilla Fuel Co. She was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1956, and in 1961 was named Miss Congeniality in the official Miss America Pageant of the Lehigh Valley. She was known for her style, her grace and her beauty. Joanne loved to work, loved her customers and loved her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe; daughters, Holly Jo Friedman Pron and husband Michael of Pottstown, and Jill Ann (Friedman) Clagett of Bethlehem; step-children, Diana Friedman and husband Vern of Corona, CA, and Michael Friedman and wife Kimberly of Fernandina Beach, FL; brother, Joseph Edraney of Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Friday, Nov. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
