Joao L. Almeida

Joao L. Almeida, 61, of Bethlehem, Pa died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Trancoselos, Portugal he was the son of the late Antonio and Emilia (Lopes) Almeida. He was married to Maria L. (Costa) Almeida for 36 years.

Joao worked at Joao and Bradley Contractors. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Joao was an active member of the Portuguese American Club. Joao had many passions in life such as the Sporting Club de Portugal, small game hunting and cooking for his friends and family. He was a very caring person who welcomed anyone into his home. Joao was loved by many and will be missed by all those who knew him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria, daughters, Monica wife of Robert Martrich of Allentown and Marcia Almeida and Fianc Angel Velazquez of Bethlehem, brother, Adelino Almeida, sisters, Violeta and Lisete Almeida all in Portugal, grandchildren, Jordan Rex, Blake Martrich, Shane Martrich, Jovanni, Julianna and Jazlynn Velazquez, mother-in-law, Maria DaCosta, many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francisco DeAlmeida and sisters, Isaura Vilaverde and Graciete Fiahlo.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Joaos name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 1525 Valley Center Parkway Suite 180, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
